Pets 4 Vets

This is a two part program that first recognizes that many survivors have "comfort" dogs as companions to get them through the rough times. Very few dogs are authorized as "service" dogs through the Veterans Administration, and this leads to vets not having appropriate resources to care for their companions. We are partnering with national companies to create resources and emergency funds for canine companions that develop a sudden illness or injury.

The second part of this program works with various organizations and pet rescues to match young rescues that can be trained "in house" to become comfort and service dogs. We will screen veterans and make sure that they can care for an animal, arrange transportation of the dogs, and then match in house trainers to the veterans so that a proper relationship can be made.
